The Rotary Club of Brynmawr Water Projects is proud to announce that world renowned international and charismatic wildlife photographer Andy Rouse has added his support to the FiltaStraw Charity.
Andy has been a supporter of the FiltaStraw since he was first introduced to it a year ago. Andy takes the FiltaStraws on his international assignments and takes comfort in knowing that if he should end up in a situation where there is only poor water to drink that he can do so safely.
“I travel to some of the poorest areas of the planet and I have come to realise that access to clean water is a precious commodity and one that we take for granted. Unfortunately an alarming portion of the world’s population do not have access to clean safe water, leading to malnourishment and disease. This is brought to a head during the increasing number of natural disasters that are befalling remote regions of the world, where access to water for a few days after the tragic event is the key to survival. Therefore I am honoured to be asked to be involved with the FiltaStraw Charity and to help promote its usage and distribution throughout the areas that need it the most. Now when I travel I will always take several FiltaStraws with me, not only to give away but also for my personal use as access to fresh water can sometimes be difficult. In conclusion such a simple concept as FiltaStraw has so much benefit for mankind that I urge each and every one of you to assist us in this worthy project – remember water is the elixir of life and access to safe clean water should, not be a privilege but a right…”
For those of you that saw Andy in his own wildlife series called ‘Wildlife Photographer’ on Animal Planet you will know the sort of environment and conditions that he finds himself in from day to day. It is one thing to endure discomfort, heat and cold on location but it is another thing when you are suffering from diarrhoea problems as well caused solely by unsafe water. The FiltaStraw will stop such organisms from harming the body.

Thank you Andy for adding your support to our charity.
